Rivals.com Recognizes Gattuso and Cavanaugh for Recruiting Efforts

February 13th, 2008 | by The Prowler |

Now that National Letter of Intent Day is over, the focus has shifted back to basketball primarily. But Pitt has received yet another honor this off season, in addition to its highly ranked recruiting classes. Rivals.com has recognized Pitt assistant head coach Greg Gattuso as the top recruiting assistant coach in the Big East, crediting him with landing Tino Sunseri, Cameron Saddler, and Shayne Hale, amongst others.

The site also ranked offensive coordinator Matt Cavanaugh in the top 10.

While it is nice to see the team getting such honors, all this just adds to the pressure to deliver a stellar season next year, especially after having highly touted recruiting classes the last 2 years as well.

Scared me there for a minute - I thought from the headline that Cavanaugh was named a Top Ten OC nationally. That would be kind of strange.

first let’s see Pitt with a winning record in football then we can start talking about recruiting

I have already made the point that all the recruiting in the world is pointless without actually turning it into wins. But Pitt has shown the talent it already has, especially at running back. And they did put it all together to fight the number 2 team in the nation on one December eve…
